Build a bluebird box just in time for spring! Expert John Rogers will show us how.
Open to adults only. Please contact the library to register if you plan on making a bluebird box.
Slide Program Summary:
This quality PowerPoint presentation includes the life history of the Eastern Bluebird, nest box management, other birds that nest in bluebird boxes, and more. The focus is on bluebirds, but John also shares his passion for the natural world in hopes the audience will take in some broader and deeper messages about nature. The program has variety, feeling, and is thought provoking. With visually beautiful photographs, sounds, and a sincere, enthusiastic presentation style, this program is of interest to anyone who appreciates nature.
Optional Nest Box Building Project:
Following the slide program, there is an optional build-your-own-bluebird-box project, with all tools and materials provided Materials include pre-cut/pre-drilled pine, nails, screws, inside plastic strip, and “step by step” models. Tools include hammers, screw drivers, and safety glasses. John cuts and drills the wood, and assembles the kits, in his garage. (Tables or benches need to be provided, that’s all.) This project takes an extra 30 minutes on average for adults.
