Don’t miss ZIG: A Showcase of Creativity

On view through August 30

This week is your last chance to catch this art show in the Bristol Room. Three talented students: Zach, Isabella, and Garrett (Bella Malara, Garrett Tallman, and Zach Thomas) have an amazing display and most pieces are for sale.

We Want to See Your School Photos

For our September art exhibit, we’re going to display a variety of school pictures from community members.

Look through your school portraits and pick out one of your best – it can be awkward or adorable!

You can either snap a photo of it with your phone and email it to clinton@midyork.org or stop in with the hard copy, and we’ll make a quick scan of it. We’ll only identify you by your first name and grade level.

More details on the show are coming soon!

Clinton Challenge

Do you like to read? Are you over 18? If you answered yes to both of those questions, we need you for the Clinton Challenge!

The Kirkland Town Library was the winner of the first Clinton Challenge in summer 2021! We won again in 2023, but we are lagging behind this year. We need to bring the trophy home! All you have to do is keep track of how much time you spend reading.

If it seems intimidating, here’s a helpful tip. This year, all six libraries have agreed that one page is equal to one minute of reading. Once you finish a book, make a note of how many pages it is (or Google it!). Divide the number of pages by 60, and you have your reading time.

Every Friday, let us know how long you’ve read during the week.  Snip this week from your reading log and drop it off, email your time to clinton@midyork.org, or fill out the online form.

For every instance that you submit your time, you’ll be entered in a raffle to win a fun prize at the end of the summer.

pep rally to-go bags

Team members are invited to stop by to pick up a special Pep Rally in a Bag filled with supplies to help you maximize your reading before the end of the summer. There are only 25 available! Bags will be available starting at Noon on Friday, August 22. One per household; available to readers who have submitted their reading time this summer.

Week thirteen Results

Heading into the final days, New York has edged ahead of Pennsylvania by just 94 hours. Iowa isn’t far behind, coming in at 19,984 hours, followed by first-time participant Indiana with 17,080. Massachusetts had a huge increase from last week, coming in at 15,141. New Jersey is on a bye this week; they snuck in to win the whole challenge at the last minute in 2022, so who knows what numbers they will report at the finish line.

This is the last weekly update you’ll see before the winning library is announced on September 8. We’ve seen many surprise endings over the years, so it’s still anyone’s race. Help your library claim victory by logging your reading from Midnight on May 26 through 11:59 p.m. on September 1. Submit that time by the end of the day on Friday, September 5. You can use the Google Form, the paper log, or send an email to clinton@midyork.org.
