Board meetings are open to the public and occur on the third Thursday of every month excluding July and December. Meetings start at 6:30 pm.

VISION:We envision the Kirkland Town Library to be:Welcoming to all through the implementation of our Mission; Recognized for excellence in all areas: board governance, patron services, staff professionalism, and operational methods; Financially stable and independent through a structured approach including development, fund-raising and the pursuit of grants and new income streams; A state of the art community learning center with robust collections and programming at the Library and through outreach locations; Housed in a facility known for its exterior and interior attractiveness, efficient use of space (to accommodate a wide variety of community needs) and the incorporation of environmentally friendly practices; A community resource for information and resources if disaster strikes in our areaA leader in collaboration with other community organizations; The place to go if both sides of an issue need to be researched and discussed.

GOALS:

1.  Board Goal:  Revitalize the role of the Library Board to govern, participate and be a resource toward the achievement of the mission and vision of the Library.

2.  Finance Goal:  Develop and implement strategies to insure financial growth and stability for the purpose of the KTL’s longevity.

3.  Development Goal:  Create and incorporate the Development function within the Library’s structure.  Collaborate more closely with the Friends of the Library organization for the best and most cohesive achievement.

4.  Facilities Goal: Insure the Library is comfortable, attractive, efficient and sustainable. Determine short and long -range facility projects and implementation schedule.

5.  Staff Goal:  Develop and implement programs to retain and recruit qualified professionals in a fair and equitable environment.

6.  Patron Goal:  Develop strategies to expand the number of people in our community to utilize our services.

7.  Collections Goal:  Ensure the KTL Collections reflect the interest of Kirkland readers in their content, format and language and are available in both a timely manner and sufficient quantities to anticipate demand.

8.  Programming Goal:  Evaluate and determine the programs to attract and enrich our community.  Consider the opportunities for new programs and collaboration potential with other community organizations.
